Northridge earthquake damage and reopening
The center sustained modest damage in the January 17, 1994 Northridge earthquake and its inline mall section reopened on January 28. The four anchors returned in stages across the following ten months.
The inline section had been seismically reinforced roughly two years earlier, which accounts for the limited damage. Anchor reopenings are reported as Nordstrom in February, The Broadway in June, Montgomery Ward in September and Robinsons-May in November.
The staged anchor dates are month-level and single-source. Contemporary damage assessments and repair permits would corroborate.
