West Valley Center planning and site assembly on the former Warner Ranch
May Centers, Inc. assembled a 58-acre tract on the former Harry Warner Ranch in the west San Fernando Valley and advanced plans for an enclosed regional center, promoted in its earliest phase as West Valley Center.
The developer was the St. Louis-based shopping-center arm of The May Department Stores Company. Victor Gruen Associates was engaged for planning, architecture, engineering and interior design. The working name West Valley Center had been replaced by Topanga Plaza before construction began.
